What I've learned:
I have learned countless things from taking this class. Almost everything I know about writing as a journalist I have learned from this class. In taking this class I have definitely reassured myself that I want to become a journalist. Before this class I never would have stepped out of my comfort zone and gone out to do interviews with people I don't know. I really enjoyed taking this class and am very excited to get to take more journalism classes in the future. My perspective on journalism hasn't changed too much. I still see it as a necessary tool for the public and very much want to become a journalist.

That is wonderful that you want to become a journalist. I can relate to you in that, I had never conducted interviews before this class and I always stayed within my comfort zone. Good luck and I hope you get some of your stories published!
ReplyDeleteStaying within my comfort zone was a big problem for me, but now I am actually able to interview people in person and not feel weird about it!
ReplyDeleteI liked being able to get out there and interview people. It was fun to here what they said, my favorite was looking for good quotes and thinking, 'OH! good! an good qoute I can use! '
ReplyDeleteTrevor - I'm delighted to hear that you intend to pursue the field of journalism and that this class has helped fuel your passion. If you're around next year, I hope you consider joining the Ink Spot staff (or the Rampage at Coon Rapids). Be sure to save your writing clips for your resume. Try to get published wherever you can before graduating. This will help you get a job later on. Good luck on all your future endeavors, and keep me posted!
